My Favorite Women in Video Games: Tron Bonne

Maybe your first experience was wondering why no one wanted to play Princess Peach in Super Mario Kart. Or maybe it was when you realized that Raiden has practically his entire face covered, while his female Mortal Kombat participants were less than clothed.

No matter how it happened, every girl gamer has wondered why our female video game characters don't get the same treatment as their male counterparts or at least why we seem to be the girlfriend or love interest being rescued, but never rescuing anyone.

Luckily for our youngest gamers buying their first Wii and even luckier for those of us who waited for the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Xbox games to take off, our character choices for female video game characters to kick ass with has grown constantly over the years.

Tron Bonne

Games she appeared in: The Misadventures of Tron Bonne, Mega Man Legends, Marvel v. Capcom 2, Marvel v. Capcom 3

Is she being rescued as a key plot point? No, she is the rescuer in The Misadventures of Tron Bonne.

For our video game BFF dates, we would: Play with her servbots while fighting various members of the X-Men.

I was introduced to T.Bonne when I was introduced to the Dreamcast and Marvel v. Capcom 2 and voluntarily gave up a months worth of my life to unlock as many characters as possible.

However, she was instantly and remains my favorite character still because she is feisty and completely underestimated by people drawn to the Hulk or Juggernaut.

She has her own robot mech. Who doesn't want their own robot mech to walk around in? Especially while sightseeing, or grocery shopping. The possibilities are endless.

She has her own brigade of adorable servbots to do her bidding. They are both adorable and will steal your wallet if you are not looking. One of the most satisfying moments of any video game that I've ever played features a giant Servbot crossing the screen, smacking your opponent down with a hammer.

The list can go on, but ultimately T.Bonne is a ass-kicking sky pirate who can fix anything that flies and save the day for a brother who didn't always have faith in her. She stands out in the Marvel v. Capcom games due to her sensible overalls, lack of leotard and high heels to fight in, and because it is really just fun to play as a teenage girl who kicks Magneto's butt.

  1. It's so funny that this article began with "no one wanted to be Princess Peach in Mario Kart" because my older brother was ALWAYS Princess Peach in Mario Kart. And I have no idea why...(I was always Toad or Koopa. ;)
